To add Closed Captions to your individual videos, head over to the "Video" section of the Dashboard.

That will take you to the landing page of the videos in your Mediavine Video Library.

Adding Your Own Files

  1. Click on the video that you’d like to upload Closed Captions to and scroll down to the "Closed Captions" section of your individual video settings.

  2. Click on “Upload a file” and use a WebVTT .vtt or SRT file that you’d like associated with that video. Multiple files are allowed for multi-language support.

3. Once the file is uploaded, you can assign the file a language. English will be the default.

We currently offer the following languages:

  • English

  • Spanish

  • French

  • Chinese

  • Arabic

  • Hindi

  • Portuguese

4. Once your files are uploaded, head to the bottom of the page and on the right side, click “Save Changes.”

Once uploaded, your video will have a Closed Caption option in the video player. The user can toggle on the option to enable:

The user will also have Settings they can choose from:

They’ll be able to change the options and click on “Done” to resume the video.

Enabling Default Captions

If you only have videos with music, consider using the setting that allows you to Enable Default Captions without having to upload your own files! Learn more about that here.

If you have any questions, please reach out to publishers@mediavine.com. We’d be happy to help!
