Collecting Explicit Consent

When you are running Grow Spotlight Subscribe and a reader visits your site, if the reader signs up to receive emails, they also have to check the box that acknowledges they are giving consent for you to send them emails.

In the United States, users are also giving consent to receive personalized ads. Collecting explicit consent for both is an important part of Grow and the goal to collect first-party data.

Obtaining both consents allows Mediavine to create anonymized identifiers with demographic information. This allows advertisers to continue to serve personalized ads - but in a privacy-centric way.

Will having consent for both impact my subscriber rates?

We have A/B tested this (and all Grow features) extensively and collecting dual consent did not affect the conversion rates of subscribers.
