Mediavine Labs: Auto Pin

How It Works

Auto Pin lives right inside your Mediavine Dashboard, under Mediavine Labs, no separate site or login required. Once it's connected to your site, it does the following:

1. Indexes your archive. It starts by looking at your existing posts, not just new ones going forward
2. Auto Pin sorts your posts using a priority order:
   
   - Posts you’ve nominated with Pin Next
   - Seasonal posts inside a relevant window
   - Recently published or republished posts
   - Proven earners. Posts ranked by traffic × RPM over the trailing year
   - Everything else.
3. Designs on-brand pin variants. Keeping your site's own colors, it creates multiple pin designs for your higher-scoring post.
4. Publishes on a measured cadence. The pins go out steadily over time rather than all at once, keeping your archive in consistent rotation
5. Times seasonal content automatically. Since it’s using each post's real traffic history, Auto Pin starts pinning seasonal content about 60 days ahead of when it typically peaks (so your pecan pie recipe starts picking up steam well before Thanksgiving)

You stay in control of the pace and the pipeline:

• Upcoming pins queue. See exactly what's going out, grouped by day, before it publishes.
• One-click cancel. Cancel any scheduled pin at any time.
• Review mode. Flip this on in settings if you'd rather approve each pin before it goes live, instead of full autopilot.
• Pin next. Jump any post to the front of the queue.
• Pace control. Lower your weekly pin volume anytime from the overview page.

Getting Started

1. From your Mediavine Dashboard, go to Mediavine Labs in the sidebar and open Auto Pin.

2. Complete the five-step setup wizard: add your site, connect your Pinterest account, index your posts, set up your boards, and choose your brand color.
   To ensure your pins and content land in the right place, input is needed when setting up your boards: pick a default board, then review and accept the suggested topic boards.

3. Auto Pin verifies your account status, indexes your archive, and begins scoring and designing pins

There is no additional action needed from here, it will continue to run on its own. You can check back anytime to review the upcoming queue, adjust your pace, or turn on review mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I control what gets pinned? By default, Auto Pin runs on autopilot. If you'd rather approve pins yourself, turn on Review mode in settings and nothing will publish until you approve it from the queue. You can also use Pin next to jump any specific post to the front of the line.

Can I limit how many pins get created? Yes, pace control lives in your setup wizard and on the overview page. You can lower your weekly pin volume anytime. There's a summary line showing your current pace with a change link right there.

Will the pins actually match my brand? Auto Pin builds multiple pin variants per post using your site's own colors. Brand matching is one of the areas we're actively improving during beta. If a pin doesn't look right for your brand, let us know!

How does Auto Pin decide what to pin? It follows a set priority order. Posts you've nominated come first, followed by in-season seasonal content, then anything published or republished in the last 21 days. After that, Auto Pin looks at proven earners before filling in the rest. There's no extra setup on your end for this.

How do I know if it's working? Auto Pin's overview page shows real analytics for the pins it's published, typically with a 2 day reporting lag from Pinterest. Note that this covers Auto Pin–published pins specifically, not your full Pinterest account's traffic.

Who has access right now? Auto Pin is currently in closed beta with a small group of Mediavine publishers. It's Mediavine-exclusive, this isn't something available outside our publisher network.
