# Mediavine Labs: House Ads

## Promote your own products, email list, or content in ad space that would otherwise go unfilled, without giving up any ad revenue.

### What are House Ads?

House Ads let you run your own image ads on your site, right from your Mediavine Dashboard. Use them to promote a product, grow your email list, or send readers to your best content.

Your House Ads only show when no paying advertiser fills an ad spot. They never compete with or replace an ad that would have earned you money. Without House Ads, those spots show a [Shine PSA](https://help.mediavine.com/fill-your-unused-ad-inventory-with-a-psa?hsLang=en) or stay empty. House Ads give you another way to put that space to work for your business.

### Who can use House Ads?

House Ads are launching as a Mediavine Labs beta for a limited group of publishers. If House Ads are available for your site, you’ll find them in the Mediavine Labs tab of your dashboard.

Don’t see them? You can request access from the Mediavine Labs page. Since the beta is starting small, you’ll be added to a waitlist and notified when House Ads are available for your site.

House Ads are not available for Journey sites at this time.

### How to set up House Ads

1. Log in to your Mediavine Dashboard and go to Mediavine Labs \> House Ads.
2. Click **+ New House Ad** and upload your image ad.
3. Add the click-through link where you want readers to land.
4. Turn the ad on.

There’s no approval step. Once you turn an ad on, it’s live right away. You can turn an ad off or remove it from the same page at any time.

### Creative requirements

| **Requirement** | **Details** |
| --- | --- |
| Ad sizes | 300x250, 728x90 or 320x50 |
| High-resolution (2x) sizes | 600x500, 1456x180 or 640x100 |
| File size | Up to 1MB |
| Dimensions | Must match the size exactly, to the pixel |
| Format | Image ads only, no video. Accepted file types: JPG, PNG, GIF |
| Number of ads | Up to 20 active at once |

### House Ads and Shine PSAs

House Ads and [Shine PSA](https://help.mediavine.com/fill-your-unused-ad-inventory-with-a-psa?hsLang=en)s share your unfilled ad space. Each has a chance to fill a spot no paying advertiser fills.

All of your House Ads count together as a single entry, whether you have 1 ad or 20. Each PSA you have turned on counts as its own entry, and each entry gets an equal shot. For example, if you have 4 PSAs on, your House Ads will show in about 1 out of every 5 unfilled spots, rotating among your House Ads.

**Want your House Ads to show more often?** Turn off some or all of your PSAs in your dashboard settings.

### Things to keep in mind

- **This is a Mediavine Labs beta.** Since House Ads are still in testing, they aren’t covered through our normal support channels. If you run into issues or have questions, use the feedback option in the tool.
- **No reporting yet.** You won't see House Ads performance in your dashboard at launch. We may add reporting in the future.
- **Images only.** Video ads aren't supported.
- **Your own promotions only.** House Ads are for promoting your own content, products, or brand. They can’t be used to run ads you’ve sold directly to advertisers. If you’re interested in direct deals, email publishers@mediavine.com.
- **Content rules.** Only upload images you have the rights to use and that follow the guidelines in your dashboard.

### FAQ

**Will House Ads lower my ad earnings?** No. Your House Ads only appear when no paying advertiser fills a spot, so they never replace an ad that would have earned you money.

**How many House Ads can I run?** Up to 20 at once.

**Do my House Ads need to be approved?** No. They go live as soon as you turn them on, though it may take a little time before they appear on your site.

**Why am I still seeing Shine PSAs instead of my House Ads?** Shine PSAs and House Ads share your unfilled ad space. To show your House Ads more often, turn off some or all of your PSAs in your settings.

**Can I see how my House Ads are performing?** Not in the dashboard yet. We're starting without reporting and may add it in the future.

**Can I use House Ads for ads I've sold to advertisers?** No. House Ads are for promoting your own content, products or brand.

**How do I get access?** Request access from the Mediavine Labs page in your dashboard. You’ll be added to the waitlist and notified when House Ads are available for your site.
