Mediavine Labs: Video Maker

Turn your posts into ready-to-use videos. Pick the content, add your branding, and Video Maker builds the rest, so you are ready to run with UVP+.

What is Video Maker?

Video Maker is a tool inside Mediavine Labs that builds an MP4 video from your own site content. You pick the posts, arrange them into slides, add a title card, and click Generate. Video Maker handles the rest.

If you don't create a video yourself, your site will automatically receive a generic "starter" video so you're still eligible for UVP+. That starter video pulls from general top content and won't include your post photos. Video Maker gives you control instead: your posts, your order, your titles, your branding.

Already have your own video uploaded? No changes needed. Video Maker sits alongside it, and you can use it later if you'd like.

How to Create a Video

  1. Open Video Maker.
    From your site's dashboard, go to Mediavine Labs in the sidebar, find the Video Maker card, and click Open.
  2. Choose how to start.
    Option 1: Click "Generate a video for me" to auto-fill the slide list with your site's top posts (only those with usable images) and auto-fill the title card with your site name and logo. You can edit everything afterward.

    Option 2: Add slides manually. Use the search box on the left to find more of your posts, then click Add next to any post you'd like to include. Only posts with a usable image will appear as candidates.

  3. Edit the video. Name your video and set the duration. Choose a total length between 10–120 seconds (60 seconds by default). Slide timing is split evenly across your total duration automatically. Set up your intro card. The first slide can display your site's logo, name, or both. You can toggle this on or off. Arrange your slides using the list on the right:

    - Reorder slides with the up/down arrows, or by clicking and dragging.

    - Edit each slide's title text in its field.

    - Toggle "Show title" off for any slide where you'd rather not add a title, for example, an image that already has text built in.

    - Click the trash icon to remove a slide.

    - You can include up to 12 slides total.

  4. Click Generate. A loading screen will appear and update automatically as your video renders. Please don't leave the page while your video renders.
  5. You’ll be taken to “Your videos” (still within Video Maker). The video you just made is still processing. Do not navigate away from the page. You can leave the tab/window open in the background while the video finishes processing.
  6. Your video is set automatically. Once rendering finishes, your new video becomes your site's featured video and UVP+ is turned on if it wasn't already. You can change your featured video or turn UVP+ off anytime from your video settings.
  7. Find your video. Click Go to Library to view or download it. It'll live in your site's video library going forward.

What to expect with Video Maker

  • One visual style: Video Maker currently produces panning slides with a title overlay and logo intro.
  • Branding: Your logo and name are detected automatically from your homepage.
  • Slide limits: Up to 12 slides, with a total video length between 10 and 120 seconds.
  • Rendering time: Videos typically take a few minutes to generate.
  • Library limit: You can keep up to 3 videos in your Media library at a time. Once you hit 3, you'll be prompted to delete one before creating another. We suggest downloading a copy first if you'd like to keep it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this video AI-generated? No. Video Maker doesn't generate any new images, footage, or writing. It takes photos and titles already published on your site and assembles them into a video. Nothing is invented.

Where do the images and titles come from? Your own site's posts. You choose which ones to include, reorder them, and can edit every title before generating.

Can I make a new one later? Yes. You can return to Video Maker anytime to swap posts, reorder slides, change the title card, or generate a fresh version.

Is there a limit to how many videos I can make? You can have up to 3 videos in your Media library at once. Once you reach that limit, you'll need to delete one to create another — you can always download a video first to keep a copy.
