Mediavine Consent Management Platform (CMP)
Mediavine has partnered with consentmanager to provide an IAB-approved consent solution for Mediavine and Journey publishers. The platform is fully integrated with Mediavine ads and designed to support privacy compliance across regions governed by European privacy law.
What a Consent Management Platform (CMP) Does
A Consent Management Platform is a pop-up that appears to visitors in regions covered by GDPR, PECR, and the ePrivacy Directive, as well as industry frameworks like TCF and GPP. It gives readers a clear way to opt in or out of data collection and ensures your site is handling that choice correctly.
What Readers Will See

If your reader accepts, they'll be shown personalized ads relevant to the reader and based on whatever data has been collected.
If your reader chooses to manage their settings, they are redirected to a pop-up that includes individual consents. From this page, they can opt in and out of consent and “legitimate interest” options, as well as have the ability to Reject All.
Legitimate interest means that the data was required to conduct business, and does not interfere with the person’s privacy rights.
Should a reader choose to reject all, they're shown contextual ads, which are ads determined by the content of your site rather than personal data.
Readers can update their preferences at any time through the Manage Preferences link in your site footer.
How to Enable It
Mediavine enables the display of the CMP to the appropriate regions by default for all publishers.
- You can make changes and customizations by navigating to Settings > Consent Management.

- Use the drop-down menu to make adjustments.

Customizations to color and header can also be made from this page.

- Ensure your privacy policy is up-to-date and linked on your site's homepage.
How Often Will Readers Be Prompted?
Once per EU visitor and is valid up to 6 months. If an update is made to Mediavine's vendor list or a visitor clears cookies within their browser, visitors will again be prompted to accept the updated version.
Revenue Impact
Consent rates and monetization were comparable with the prior Mediavine CMP solution. We expect rates of acceptance to vary between sites based on the region where the majority of traffic is coming from.
Testing the CMP
Use a VPN to simulate browsing from a European country. If you need help setting one up, contact publishers@mediavine.com.
Does a CMP Mean Full Privacy Compliance?
No. A CMP covers consent for display and video advertising, but privacy compliance extends further than that. Take a look at everything on your site that collects reader data, including:
- Affiliate links
- Email marketing services
- Sponsored campaign tracking pixels
- Giveaways and contests
If it touches reader data, it needs attention.
